How It All Started...
The idea of opening up her own brick-and-mortar business began back in 2018.
"In 2018, when my daughter was 6, I noticed a glaring absence of kid-friendly cafés in our old Bushwick neighborhood, especially those within walking distance for play dates. With mostly delis, takeout restaurants, and bars nearby, I thought maybe I could fill that void by opening my own kid-friendly café," Sophia explained.
Meet Sophia, a local Bethel resident.

What began as an idea for a kid-friendly café, inspired by her daughter Sienna, ignited an entrepreneurial spark in Sophia she didn’t know she had. This spark set her on a determined journey to open her own brick-and-mortar business. Over the next six years, through the pandemic and a move to Bethel, CT in 2020, that spark never faded. After exploring various concepts—from a café with an indoor play area to a paint & sip venue—Sophia found her true calling in a bubble tea shop.

Jubi Tea & Sweets came to fruition during a leisurely stroll through downtown Bethel in early 2023. As a long-time bubble tea enthusiast, Sophia often craved bubble tea but couldn’t find any nearby. It was at that very moment that Sophia realized she could open her own shop, share her love for boba, and bring something new, fun, and family-friendly to downtown Bethel.

Jubi Tea & Sweets will feature a wide range of bubble tea flavors—from classic milk tea and fruit tea to refreshing slushes and handcrafted specialty drinks prepared by our bobaristas. Our commitment is to serve bubble tea that is not only delicious but also freshly prepared to order, with daily-cooked tapioca (also known as boba) and freshly brewed tea. The shop will also serve made-to-order bubble waffles and a selection of Asian-inspired treats made exclusively by a local bakery. Jubi Tea & Sweets aims to be more than just a grab-and-go spot. Sophia envisions it as a welcoming space where friends and family can also gather, forge connections, and enjoy the shop's offerings.

Wondering about the story behind the name "Jubi"? Well, it's derived from the word "jubilant," which perfectly embodies the happiness and joy that Sophia hopes to share with each sip and bite. At Jubi Tea & Sweets, we make it our mission to spread good vibes and add a touch of sweetness to your day.

We look forward to your visit!
